Update for the mandatory working at heights training in Ontario.

Workplace Safety North
The Ministry of Labour has extended the deadline for the mandatory working at heights training in Ontario, from April 1st until October this year - if the worker is enrolled in a CPO-approved course by April 1 (please see the memo for the MOL).

The definition of construction under the Occupational Health and Safety Act is as follows:
construction” includes erection, alteration, repair, dismantling, demolition, structural maintenance, painting, land clearing, earth moving, grading, excavating, trenching, digging, boring, drilling, blasting, or concreting, the installation of any machinery or plant, and any work or undertaking in connection with a project but does not include any work or undertaking underground in a mine; (“construction”).

This definition can also apply to industrial maintenance or service workers at least some of the time. In order to comply, the workers will have to complete a CPO-approved WAH training when required.

Technical Training & Compliance is pleased to announce that we are a training partner with Workplace Safety North (which is a Ministry of Labour Health and Safety Partner) and we are listed on the training partners section of their website. This will allow us to provide CPO-approved courses where required (including Working from Heights).

I wanted to let you know there is now some breathing room regarding the training date.  If you have any questions regarding the training required, please contact me.

Thanks,
Frank Keegan
